EHS Officer
Location / Dept.: Cahir, Cahir, CO. Tipperary: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Working Hours: 8.00 am – 4:30 pm (Mon to Fri)
Contract length: 12 months
Job Purpose: This newly created position within Horizon Offsite is key in ensuring the site deploys and is compliant with Environmental, Health and Safety legislation, Etex requirements and best practice. The position holder will motivate, inspire and engage others to work towards a common goal and help to measure the sites performance against key EHS goals.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- In close co-operation with Senior Management, execute the action plan for EHS improvement, providing information to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain all Irish legal and Etex policies and standards related to EHS and promote a culture of good EHS practice
- On a day to day basis, provide leadership and supervision for common EHS issues and concerns
- Identify trends, isolate root causes and support processes to ensure follow up actions are taken in a timely manner
- In the event of an accident / incident, facilitate investigations using techniques such as Root Cause Analysis and 5 Why’s
- Support the planning, preparation and execution of scheduled plant maintenance shutdowns, including hands- on support
- Compile information and data from the EHS systems and ensure this is accurate and relevant
- Lead risk assessments including Serious Injury and Fatality assessments
Requirements (Person Spec):
This position would suit someone who
- A minimum of 3 years H&S experience
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Awareness of the application of EHS legal requirements within Ireland
- Behavioural Based Safety experience
- Formal Risk Assessments and Accident / Investigation reporting experience
